Since Phuket is a world-class natural tourism city, around the year 1992 – 1997 , tourists who came to Phuket and enjoyed diving to see the beauty of the sea, coral reefs, and beautiful fish on various islands. Moreover, the coast of Phuket is beautiful. From this trend of tourists, the idea was to create a pattern of Phuket sea such as butterfly fish pattern, starfish pattern, noree fish pattern, warbler fish pattern, clown fish pattern, and coral pattern. Later, the patterns on batik cloth were seriously studied. The sea pattern on batik was designed for the government for the first time in 1997 and other Andaman provinces. And later in the same year, the cloth won the first prize for designing sea patterns on batik at the Bang Sai Arts and Crafts Center, Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The sea batik pattern of Phuket has become more well known since then until now.

At the same time, "Phuket Batik" is widely known both domestically and internationally because it has a unique style.

  1. Mr. Chuchat Rawichan (Deceased in 2002) as a teacher in the Department of Applied Art Design, Phuket Rajabhat University. He was the inventor of the modern Batik fabric pattern by combining floral patterns, butterfly patterns, sea patterns, and the most outstanding is sea patterns.
